On October 25th, the 174000 cubic meter large liquefied natural gas (LNG) transport ship "Shaolin", built by China Shipbuilding Corporation's Shanghai East China Joint China Shipbuilding Trade for the COSCO Shipping and China Petroleum State LNG transportation project, was named and delivered.

The "Shaolin" is a mainstream large LNG transport ship in the world today, independently developed and designed by Shanghai East China. It is the first ship in the series of six 174000 cubic meters of large liquefied natural gas (LNG) transport ships for the China National LNG Transport Project of COSCO Shipping and PetroChina. The ship has a total length of 295 meters, a molded width of 45 meters, a molded depth of 26.25 meters, a speed of 19.5 knots, and is classified as American Bureau of Shipping (ABS).

The ship adopts the latest generation of dual fuel low speed propulsion power system in the world, designed with advanced environmental protection devices, and its daily fuel consumption is controlled within 100 tons. When operating in gas or fuel mode, its emissions can meet the strictest standards of the International Maritime Organization and are highly praised by shipowners.

It is reported that this ship is the 40th LNG storage and transportation ship to be completed and delivered after 25 years of deep cultivation in the LNG industry chain of Shanghai East China. It is also an important measure for China Shipbuilding, China Petroleum, and China Ocean Shipping to jointly implement the national energy development strategy, effectively promoting deep cooperation among the three central enterprises in the upstream and downstream fields of energy, shipping, and shipbuilding LNG industry chain. It is of great significance for ensuring national energy strategic security and enhancing international competitiveness.
